Welcome to #FreeviewFriday. This week’s snippet is brought to you from my short story, Escort to Insanity, due to release this December in the Make Believe anthology.
Following on from last time, this week we get to meet the bane of Cole’s life:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For almost an hour, I avoided detection by said ‘letch’ before he finally caught up with me. As I stared at one of the auction pieces, my head tipped to mirror Benjamin’s beside me, the chill along my left side warned of Tony’s arrival.
His chest brushed my arm, lips infringed on my personal space, and breath sweated my ear with his whispered, “Figured out what it is, Cole?”
Benjamin shifted in my periphery, and a step brought him to face me in a way that spoke volumes, especially with his left hand claiming my waist. “Can I help you?” he asked.
Tony’s smirk faltered for a second before his smarmy façade reclaimed his face. As though Benjamin hadn’t even spoken, he turned to me. “I didn’t realise you were bringing a guest, Cole. You should have said.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Letchy etches are such delightful creatures, eh? Come back in a fortnight and I’ll reveal him a little more …
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next time.
As I have said before, any and all are welcome to join me in this weekly shenanigan. HOWEVER, if you do so, I URGE you to keep the shared snippets short and sweet. Mine will be a maximum of TEN (10) sentences. To help identification of these posts, I shall be hashtagging them (for Twitter purposes) as #FreeviewFriday. Feel free to knick said hashtag for your own Freeview Friday posts.

Welcome to #FreeviewFriday. This week’s snippet is brought to you from my short story, Escort to Insanity, due to release this December in the Make Believe anthology.
Following on from last time, this week’s leads in with Benjamin rescuing Cole from having to deal with the delightful Angela we were introduced to:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before either Angela or I could protest, Benjamin’s arm tightened across my back and led me away.
“That was a little rude,” I said, once we were out of earshot.
“Yes, well . . . I’m not here to keep Angela entertained. My job is to ensure you have a good night. And you’d begun to look as though you’d rather be somewhere else.” Benjamin nabbed a flute of champagne from a passing silver tray and handed it to
me, grabbing a second for himself. “Now tell me, why have you come here tonight when you’ve been tense since the moment we stepped through the entrance?”
Because I have no choice. Because my father will probably disown me if I falter in my dance steps to his tune any more than I already have. “I thought being an escort meant you just nodded and smiled in all the right places . . .” . . . whilst warding off letchy exes who can’t accept I’ve moved on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me already thinks there is more to this evening than meets the eye …
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next time.

Welcome to #FreeviewFriday (sorry but I almost forgot to post). This week’s snippet is brought to you from my short story, Escort to Insanity, due to release this December in the Make Believe anthology.
Following on from last time, right after Benjamin and Cole arrived at the charity auction, Cole has to deal with the first curiosity of the night. Hope you enjoy:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I released a sigh. “Benjamin, this is Angela. Angela, Benjamin.”
Angela had yet to remove her gaze from my partner. “And you’ve been seeing Cole how long? What line of business are you in? You’re not a local boy, are you?”
Benjamin didn’t even bat an eye. His hand slid around my back, drawing me closer. “Coley snared me . . .”
I bristled. Coley?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heh, and this is only the beginning …
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next time.

Yay! Last week I returned to #FreeviewFriday with a snippet from Blue Moon. As promised, I’m back again, but this time with a piece from my short story, Escort to Insanity, due to release this December in the Make Believe anthology.
If you read the excerpt, where I shared the opening a few weeks back, you’ll know that Cole has booked herself a male escort for the evening. Well, this next scene shows their arrival at their venue. Hope you enjoy:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Twenty minutes of evening-debriefing later, we stepped arm-in-arm through the entrance of Horton Gallery. Snow dusted the shoulders and hood of my scarlet coat and Benjamin’s black jacket, and an upward glance showed even more clinging to the tips of his hair like diamanté ornaments.
I shrugged out of the damp garment, and like the gentleman I’d paid him to be, Benjamin took it from me. After a promise to ensure it would be hung somewhere to dry, he weaved his way toward the cloakroom, leaving me to stand alone in the high-ceilinged foyer.
Beyond the double doors ahead, people milled about, nodding and smiling whilst their twitchy or glazed eyes exposed their boredom. Each and every one of them wore more in value than they’d donate when the charity auction began—if not in clothing, then most certainly in the adornments that battled with the overhead chandeliers for impressiveness.
No doubt my lack of jewellery would earn me a few stares.
“Ready?” Benjamin’s voice snapped me from my bitter appraisal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Something tells me she’s not looking forward to it too much.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next time.

Man, it seems like forever since my last Freeview Friday post, and I’m mega excited to finally be able to share some stuff with y’all again. If you recall, I made mention of alternating the weeks between snips from Blue Moon and Escort to Insanity from the Make Believe antho as they both release at the same time? Well, I think I will likely still do that, though they won’t necessarily be weekly. It depends on what else I have going on in my life. But I shall defo try my best.
So first up for your perusal is Blue Moon. If you read the excerpt, where I shared the opening a few weeks back, you’ll know that Jem arrived at the building site to find a dodgy bird watching some of the pack. This next scene I’ll share comes in closely after that. Hope you enjoy:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door swung open, and Josh entered, his green eyes sparkling beneath a mess of shaggy, dark blond curls, and a wide grin spread across his face.
My gaze flittered to Sean.
His expression matched his pack brother’s as though Josh had impressed him with his ability to chat with a young, attractive female.
Poppy and I exchanged another glance—a hoard of unspoken communication passing between us. Knowing Poppy also had a bad vibe about the stranger made me feel a little better.
Josh unwrapped his second burger and shovelled half into his mouth as he leaned against the counter beside me.
I peered up at him. “Who was she?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep, sounds like Jem’s still bugged by the female stranger.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next time for another round of FVF and peek at what’s in store for Cole and Benjamin.

FREEVIEW FRIDAY {ETERNAL}! #FVF
Posted by jabelfield in Eternal, FVF on June 22, 2012
Hey all, and happy Friday. Thank you for stopping by. Today will be the last time I share a mini-excerpt from my PNR novella Eternal, because it is Due out in 10 days! and I hope to have something new to share for the next FVF.
BUT … because this is the last Eternal FVF, I’ve decided to share not one, but two snippets.
Here you go. Still in the market place (Jem speaks first, to Jessica after she has dragged her off around a corner) …
“What on earth is wrong?”
“Elizabeth Wells.”
I rolled my eyes but with no ounce of humour. Elizabeth had never quite forgiven me for ‘snaring’ Sean, a male she had deemed worthy of herself though I suspected she never wanted him for more than a short-term venture into the unknown. “What rumour has she begun now?”
“Oh, she is sharing her usual vindictive lies, but she has evidently exhausted her supply of locals to tittle-tattle to. She has now taken to spreading her spiteful opinion to a complete stranger.”
Do we sense trouble is coming from the gossiping of ‘Elizabeth Wells’?
Let’s take a look …
“The stranger was a male?” I asked. “Are you certain?”
“I am capable of telling the difference between genders. Especially upon one … so …” Panic glistened in her eyes as she trailed off, igniting my own.
“So …?”
“Big.” She pointed over my shoulder, and as she did so, his scent swamped me.
Werewolf!
Uh-oh!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my Eternal snippets. Tune in next time to see what new stuff I have up my sleeve.

Hey all, and happy Friday. Thank you for stopping by. Today, I’ll be sharing another mini-excerpt from my PNR novella Eternal, due out in 17 DAYS!
Following on from last week, Jem is still at the market place, though temporary separated from her sister … here’s your taste of Eternal:
As I lingered beside the bakery stand, deep inhalations drew in my favourite fragrance of the market: cottage loaves piled high next to plaits and scones. Beside me, Old Mrs Crowley pawed at the brick loaves, squeezing one after the other whilst the proprietor watched with fidgety fingers, probably hoping for her to stop.
As the sweet and warm yeasty fragrance merged with heavenly musk, I tilted my head to the side, peering around the rotund baker until my gaze locked with the dark one two rows over.
“Hey.” Sean’s greeting scarcely caused his lips to move, and would reach none other, but carried to me as surely as if he had been at my side.
Lower lip caught between my teeth, I smiled.
“Really, young lady, you should be ashamed of yourself. Can you not show a modicum of decorum?”
I turned to the ancient woman beside me, and ordering myself not to point out that leaving the house with a food stain upon ones cheek could hardly be considered dignified, dipped my chin, adopting an expression of remorse. “Apologies, Mrs Crowley. I really do try my best …” I just never seem to succeed.
I doubt I’d succeed where Sean’s concerned either.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next week for another round of FVF

Hey all, and happy Friday. Thank you for stopping by. Today, I’ll be sharing another mini-excerpt from my PNR novella Eternal, due out in a little over 2 weeks.
This week we see Jem and her sister on their weekly trip out to the local market place … here’s your taste of Eternal:
Dead boar held such an unpleasantly powerful aroma, nothing at all like the richness of the cooked product it became, and I switched to breathing through my mouth as Jessica and I passed the butcher’s stand.
“’Morning, Miss Stonehouse.”
We both turned toward the ruddy male, who stood poised with his cleaver above a soon-to-be-amputated trotter. His auburn hair curled across his brow, and his cheeks blushed an even deeper shade once he captured my sister’s focus, however I knew from experience she would offer him no more attention than a polite response—proven when she nodded and steered us away.
Jessica had been approached by more males than she could possibly handle in the three years since I had lived with the pack. Apparently, the locals believed one ‘brazen’ sister led to another.
Little did they know, if Jessica chose to snare them, the decision would be all hers, and they would stand no chance of escape.
Jem’s sister sounds like a right one, eh?

Hey all, and happy Friday. Thank you for stopping by. Today, I’ll be sharing another mini-excerpt from my PNR novella Eternal, due out in a little over 3 weeks.
Following on from last week, we get a glimpse at just why Sean was so edgy about his wounds and the trespassers … here’s your taste of Eternal:
“I did not wish for you to feel afraid.” He stalked across the room.
Tearing my gaze from the seeping liquid, I studied the power in his body, evident in each and every movement he made, no matter how minute. From his dark mop of hair, across his muscular back, all the way down his defined legs to the tips of his toes, strength and might dominated Sean’s body like a tailored uniform. I would never feel anything but safe whilst beside him.
“The only thing I have to fear is losing you,” I said.
“Which is no less a fear than the one I hold. Is it even any different, in fact?” Before I could answer, he spun, and in three strides stood beside me. His fingers folded around mine, and he drew me to my feet, taking my face between his palms until I tumbled heart first into his dark, glossy stare. “How can I protect you when I fail to defend myself?”
Aww, bless him.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks snippet. See you next week for another round of FVF

Hey all, and happy Friday. Thank you for stopping by. Today, I’ll be sharing another mini-excerpt from my PNR novella Eternal, due out in a little over 4 weeks.
Following on from last week, and Jem is still insisting on tending Sean’s wounds … here’s your taste of Eternal:
Muscle rippled beneath my curled fingers when I nudged the fabric over his hips. I knelt to undress him, and he tensed further, giving a hissed inhalation as the trousers brushed against his skin. Only once the black fabric pooled at his ankles did I see the extent of harm caused, and I swallowed the gasp that tried to escape.
From his right buttock down the back of his thigh, a jagged opening, encrusted with crimson, oozed a yellowy liquid—an echo of blood that had already exited. I pressed my fingertips to the damaged flesh, pulling back when he flinched at the contact. “Why would you try to hide such an injury?”
“Alpha’s cannot show weakness in front of their pack.”
My forehead tightened beneath my frown. “Thank you for so generically placing me amongst the others.”
*Sigh* Sean, Sean, always managing to put his foot in it by saying the wrong thing.
